Walking in the Power - Part 3
My prayer for you this session:
I pray that our Father in Heaven would give each one of you, who is studying His Word together with me, a hunger for more, and the joy of the Lord would abound in you so you are strengthened. I pray you would have the capacity to receive wisdom, knowledge, and understanding of Him, who is able to do immeasurably more than all we can ask, think, or dream of. To God be all the Glory, praise and honour in Jesus’ name, AMEN!
I believe that God speaks to each one of us today and every day, as we spend time in His presence, in His Word, and turn to do things His way.
It does not matter if you are a business man or woman, a labourer, a housewife, employed or unemployed, a preacher, pastor, evangelist or lay person in a church, as long as you have accepted Jesus Christ as Lord of your life, repented, and turned to Him. This study is for you, to help you experience the best God has for you.
This instruction is directed to each one of us. Joshua 1:8 “This Book of the Law shall not depart out of your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, that you may observe and do according to all that is written in it. For then you shall make your way prosperous, and then you shall deal wisely and have good success”.
What a great and easy way to have success and be prosperous! This is according to the very words of God Almighty, Himself! Yes, I know this is a word to Joshua who followed Moses, but we have Jesus to follow. Better than that, as born again Christians, we have the Holy Spirit inside of us, who is able to teach us and bring all the teaching back to our remembrance.
“But the Comforter (Counselor, Helper, Intercessor, Advocate, Strengthener, Standby), the Holy Spirit, Whom the Father will send in My name [in My place, to represent Me and act on My behalf], He will teach you all things. And He will cause you to recall (will remind you of, bring to your remembrance) everything I have told you.” John 14:26
This is a very powerful word for us. Notice we have to make the effort by taking time to read the Word and meditate on it. (Think about and speak it to ourselves.) By doing so it will not depart from us, day or night. As we meditate on the Word it becomes a part of us and we are renewing our mind. Romans 12:2 - “Do not be conformed to this world (this age), [fashioned after and adapted to its external, superficial customs], but be transformed (changed) by the [entire] renewal of your mind [by its new ideals and its new attitude], so that you may prove [for yourselves] what is the good and acceptable and perfect will of God, even the thing which is good and acceptable and perfect [in His sight for you]."
As we are renewed, we are ready for action, doing according to all that is written. As we put action to what we have read and meditated on, we shall make our way prosperous because we will deal wisely with each and every situation. Every person to whom we come into contact with, and we will be successful in whatever the Lord has given us to do. (If we are uncertain of what God wants us to do, then we should ask Him and He will tell us.)
When we are walking as instructed in Joshua 1:8 (to meditate on the Word and do according to all that is written) we can then be what is given to us in verse 9 - “Have not I commanded you? Be strong, vigorous, and very courageous. Be not afraid, neither be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”
What incredible power is released in you when you come to know that you are right with God! What ability is released in you for making right decisions based on the actual Word of God.
Through all of this, we must be led by the Holy Spirit (Romans 8:14) and the Holy Spirit will teach us and bring the Word back to our remembrance (John 14:26). You can be guided all the time by the Word as it is revealed to us, in every situation for which we find ourselves. We all have gifts and talents which God has given us.
We must to train ourselves to spend time with Jesus (the Word of God, the Son of God) reading, studying and praying. Only then we will come to know His leading, and prompting. He will steer us in the right direction, in the right time, with the right attitude, in all and every situation. It will become easier for us to rely and trust in God (not self) to make the small adjustments each and every day, rather than great big changes every now and then.
At this point, we need to remember God’s promises in Joshua 1:9 - “Have not I commanded you? Be strong, vigorous, and very courageous. Be not afraid, neither be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”
Wow! THE LORD GOD IS WITH YOU WHEREVER YOU GO. What a promise to us just because God loves us. What Grace! What Mercy! What assurance for all of us, if we will just put our Father God first place in our lives and spend time reading, hearing and meditating on His Word.
When you love someone, you want to spend time with them and you also want to know them. I just get so excited about Jesus when I think how, He wants and longs for me just to ask Him to speak to me.... and he does. Jesus comes and surrounds me; He saturates me with unconditional love. How I love to just walk and talk to Him, or even drive the car with Him, just to spend time praising Him. Sometimes when I do this, the Holy Spirit prompts me to intercede for an individual, or a situation in the world. What a privilege to be asked to pray and change a life or a situation. We have been given the power and authority by Jesus, to be what he wants and needs us to be. All we have to do is be willing to be used and loved by the Lord. Everything Jesus does is done with love. God is love. (1 John 4) As I draw this month’s study to a close, I want to ask you to spend time reading and meditating on 1 John 4. You will be blessed!
Let us Pray:
Father, in Jesus Name we ask you now to give all the leaders of our countries the spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that they may know you in a deeper way. We pray also that the eyes of their hearts may be enlightened in order thy may know the hope to which, You, Father, have called them. The riches of your glorious inheritance in the saints, and your incomparable great power for all who believe. That power is like the working of your mighty strength, which you Father, exerted in Christ when you raised Him from the dead, seated Him at your right hand in heavenly realms, far above all rule, authority, power, and dominion, and every title that can be given, not only in the present age but also in the one to come. You, Father God, placed all things under His feet and appointed Him to be head over everything for the church, which is His body, the fullness of Him who fills everything in every way.
We put ourselves in the place of hearing what you have to say to us and ask you to use us for your glory and honour in Jesus Name.
We also pray for the peace of Jerusalem, and know that you Father will make a way where there seems to be no way. We give you, Jesus, all the glory, praise, and honour! In Jesus name, AMEN.
