Walking in the power- part 5
Life for All Men in Christ
“Well then, as one man's trespass [one man's false step and falling away led] to condemnation for all men, so one Man's act of righteousness [leads] to acquittal and right standing with God and life for all men.” Romans 5:18
There is only one who can bring life for everyone. His name is Jesus Christ, the Word, Anointed and The Anointing. It is through our willingness to lay down, to let go of everything that we have said and done wrong in our lives; to give it over to the Lord Jesus that we can receive the full life God intended for us. We need to walk according to the Word of God, Faith in Him and His shed blood to find that fullness of Him in us. It is through that abundance that we are able to give to others. It is by faith we come believing “IT IS FINISHED”, completed through Calvary. We have been made righteous and justified (totally cleansed) in the Blood of the Lamb.
Luke 1:73-75 “That covenant He sealed by oath to our forefather Abraham: To grant us that we, being delivered from the hand of our foes, might serve Him fearlessly. In holiness (divine consecration) and righteousness [in accordance with the everlasting principles of right] within His presence all the days of our lives.”
Romans 3:24-25 “[All] are justified and made upright and in right standing with God, freely and gratuitously by His grace (His unmerited favour and mercy), through the redemption which is [provided] in Christ Jesus, whom God put forward [before the eyes of all] as a mercy seat and propitiation by His blood [the cleansing and life-giving sacrifice of atonement and reconciliation, to be received] through faith. This was to show God's righteousness, because in His divine forbearance He had passed over and ignored former sins without punishment.”
When we come to the place of knowing the truth found in Romans 5:18, “Well then, as one man's trespass [one man's false step and falling away led] to condemnation for all men, so one Man's act of righteousness [leads] to acquittal and right standing with God and life for all men”, we start to live and reign in life through Jesus Christ, we have then a delight in our hearts to spend time with Him, in fellowship and thanksgiving, praise and worshipping Him. He longs for us to draw close to Him. It is through this drawing in to Him, that He is able to in turn draw close to us. (James 4:8)
There will be times of needing help. It is during these times we need to run to our “life giver”. His name is Jesus. He is seated at the right hand of our Father, making it possible to come boldly to the throne of Grace during these times. Hebrews 4:16 “Let us then fearlessly and confidently and boldly draw near to the throne of grace (the throne of God's unmerited favor to us sinners), that we may receive mercy [for our failures] and find grace to help in good time for every need [appropriate help and well-timed help, coming just when we need it].”
The Word says in Matthew 18:19 “Again I tell you, if two of you on earth agree harmonize together, make a symphony together) about whatever [anything and everything] they may ask, it will come to pass and be done for them by My Father in heaven.” This is why it is important those to whom you confide, are led by the Word of God. You need to ask yourself a question. Do you want agreement on the problem, or the answer to the problem?
It is also during these times that obedience is needed on our part. We so often run around in circles, going to this person or that person, instead of doing what we are told to do in Matthew 6:33 “But seek (aim at and strive after) first of all His kingdom and His righteousness (His way of doing and being right), and then all these things taken together will be given you besides.”
Seek first. Notice it does not say seek man or women friends, or addictions, or comfort. No! SEEK FIRST HIS KINGDOM AND HIS RIGHTEOUSNESS and all things will be given to you besides.
Instead of running to and leaning on the Lord, we get caught in the worry trap. What if? What will happen? What will I do? Will I be humiliated? How will others view what is happening in my life? So rather than trust in the Lord and run to Him, we run to our friends for encouragement that all will turn out right. But I say to you now, when you run to your friends you need to ask yourself:
1. Are they going to agree with my problem?
2. Are they strong in the Lord and going to agree with the Word of God?
The answer always needs to align with the Word of God. Therefore, it is important to go straight to the Throne of God where the Word can provide answers to our questions or problems. Once we understand what the Word says about an issue, then we can take the problem to a pastor, cell group leader, or trusted friend. However, the person we go to needs to be grounded in the Word, moving in the gifts, and full of the Spirit of God. This is the only way you can truly come into agreement together. We know that if we pray and ask anything which is in alignment with what Scripture teaches (His Will) then it shall be done for us. (You personally!)
et’s take a look at Hebrews 4:12 to understand how to get to the heart of a problem: “For the Word that God speaks is alive and full of power [making it active, operative, energizing, and effective]; it is sharper than any two-edged sword, penetrating to the dividing line of the breath of life (soul) and [the immortal] spirit, and of joints and marrow [of the deepest parts of our nature], exposing and sifting and analyzing and judging the very thoughts and purposes of the heart.”
Most of our problems come about through our mouth. What we confess today is what we will be or will have tomorrow. Our words create just as God’s words created things into being at the creation of the world. He created by speaking things into being. That is why God changed Abram’s name to Abraham (which means father of many nations). It was through the changing of his name that brought about the destiny of his fatherhood. God spoke and it happened!
It is the same power that is within us today. Our words are powerful and sharp. They can cut a person to the heart, or they can build a crushed spirit. We can create life and bring hope, or we can destroy and bring death. We must change our words and confessions from doubt and unbelief, whining about our lack, to confessing what the Word of God says for us. Then, and only then can we start to walk in the power of the Word. Psalm 19:14 “Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in Your sight, O Lord, my [firm, impenetrable] Rock and my Redeemer.”
My brothers and sisters, we must take notice of Almighty God’s Words through scripture and put into practice not what we think or feel, but what the WORD OF GOD SAYS. We cannot afford any more wasted time dwelling on things that do not line up with God’s promises or His plan for our lives. We need to become true disciples of Jesus, disciplined by the King of Kings and Lord or Lords! We need to exercise our inheritance through doing what Jesus does, and speaking the Word of the Lord. There is NO OTHER WAY! Jesus is the Way, the Truth, and the Life! (John 14:6)
As this month’s study draws to a close, I would like to encourage you to read, study, and meditate on John 15. It is about abiding in Him and his Word abiding in us.
We thank you, Lord Jesus for being our Shepherd. Thank you for feeding, guiding, shielding and protecting us. We shall not lack. You make us lie down in fresh tender green pastures. You lead us beside the still and restful waters. You refresh and restore our lives. You lead us in the paths of righteousness and right standing with you for your Name’s sake. Yes, though we walk through the valley of the shadow of death, we will not fear or dread evil, for you Lord are with us. Your rod protects us, and your staff guides. They do comfort us. You prepare a table before us in the presence of our enemies. You anoint our heads with oil. Our cup is brimming with fullness and running over. Surely only goodness, mercy and unfailing love shall follow us through the length of all our days. Your house, O Lord and your Presence shall be our dwelling place.
In Jesus Name. AMEN!
